So I did get the 1st book. And I got the second one.Overall the writer did a very good job of maintaining the same pace and feel of the first book; that sense of being a teenager, trapped in love, and then getting bashed in by destiny, love, and enemies all around, making life a hodge podge of a mess.
And our main character, MC, still plugs through it all. And funny enough, even the character acknowledges that 'sacrificing' yourself to help others, is not a good thing if you can't control it...
My main beef as to why I won't give it a 5: the writer is still making the teenager speak so frakking formally. Read carefully, you'll notice that a times, the MC uses very little contractions in his day to day language...come on. What teenager in his/her right mind uses non contractions in their day to day language??? gah! I was hoping in this 2nd installment the writer, Mr Mettey would have tried to move away from such a formal language for a teenager...No seriously, reread the 1st book and you'll notice that our MC uses way too many non contractions: can not, vs can't, wouldn't vs would not, etc.
But overall, if you're ok with the odd formal language, get the book. It still is entertaining. I know, because I still got it anyways. Here is hoping that Tim Mettey will not disappoint us in the next novel...(haha. see what I did there?)

Trust The Hero Chronicles Volume 2 eBook Tim Mettey Reviews
Book I had me searching for book II, which does not usually happen.
I have been frustrated by the plethora of books available which don't have a plot, characters have all the personality of stuff you clean out of the bottom of your fridge, and the books are full of misspellings.
The above in NO way describes the books by Tim Mettey.
Well written, with believable dialogues, humor, excellent character development, and a true understanding of how to deliver a story so you can feel the cold breath of evil, sense the monsters reading over the back of your neck, and smell the delicious dinner as it is set on the table.
It has been a long time since I have found writing of this level.
Thank you, Mr. Mettey.
I look forward to your next efforts.
This is the 2nd book of the Hero Chronicles and it picks up right where the first book left off. As Nicholas, Cora, Riley, and Genevieve search for the 4th person on the good side of the prophesied 7 things get complicated.
Excellent series for teens.
I enjoyed this book. You could see the wheels turning in the author's mind as you read the story - about the nature of good and evil, and why a person goes above and beyond to serve and save. I plan on picking up the rest of the set. I want to see what happens.
If you like science fiction this is the set for you.
Read to 17% before I gave up and deleted it. At nearly one fifth of the book nothing, absolutely nothing happened. BORING and beyond juvenile. In plain English, it's just bad.
Okay, I know that I give a lot of books a rating of 5 stars, but this book really deserves it. I read the first book (secrets) and then I immediately read this one LOL I didn't even wait to rate it (secrets) ! ) I held my breath throughout each chapter and had to literally MAKE myself breathe. My dad saw me reading this book and said "what are you reading because you seem really into it" because my face was turning red LOL. Anyways, great books, wonderful author, band I can't wait to read the next one "fear".
This books storyline flows so easily between characters and adventures yet it is such an easy and compelling read. Though I have not read the first in this series, I was delightfully surprised that this book for me didn't need backstory for me to understand what was going on. It definitely makes me want to read the first one in the set as well as the third! I can't wait to see how the characters grow and change from the hs kids they are in order to continue the work of the Thusians in their journey.
The way this book is written draws you in easily and makes you feel as though you actually know these people. I loved the feeling of almost being involved in their story. Definitely look for more from this author, he will have some great things coming.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The first 3/4ths of the first book (Secrets) are about the hero's everyday life. Don't worry too much about what his big secret is, just enjoy the characters and getting to know everyone. Then the author reveals a portion of the secret and you get an idea why they've been hiding. THEN the author revels something much more surprising right at the end. I got book one and book two together since some reviewers had already warned this happens. So book 2 (Trust) explains everything right away and by the end of that book you know everything you need to know and understand the story. Well worth reading books one and two. Interesting and unique premise.
So I did get the 1st book. And I got the second one.
